chance to buy one

I own a 1996 dodge 2500 V10 4x4 with about 143,000 miles. This has been an excellent truck, never having a single engine or transmission problem, overall a very, very reliable vehicle. It has one big flaw, the body is rough shape, things like rusting in spots and the clear coat coming off in places. But I recently ran across a 1991 dodge 350 diesel, 5 speed, 4x4, flatbed, 140,000 miles and a boss snowplow. It was used mostly for landscaping (not a daily driver) and is better shape than my 2500, meaning less rust, better paint, overall cleaner. The guy wants $6200 for it including the snowplow. The real reason I am interested is because of better fuel mileage and heavier hauling abilities. I will primarily use it as a work truck for landscaping and lawncare. I would appreciate to hear some opinions if it was a good decision to sell my truck and buy the 350. Thanks in advance!

1st gens are great! If it's a plow truck I'd check everything in the front end out before buying it.

It definitely won't feel as refined as your current truck. More squeaks and rattles and rougher riding. But they are a great truck and you won't find a tougher work truck.

being a plow truck i would check the frame real close near the gear box for a crack.(between the radiator and the gear box!)

Gas mileage alone will make a big difference. That sounds like a nice truck, too. Like everyone said, give it a thorough looking over on the front end, plow trucks tend to get beat up a bit. I say go for it .

Sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if you want the plow.
