Can someone explain what a 3200 spring does
Can someone explain what a 3200 spring does
so when you guys say defueling, do you mean when i see my boost backing off at a higher rpm before the tranny shifts into a higher gear? cuz if so i need to get this thing and get it in ASAP cuz im sick of passing someone and it backing off the boost

Find a long straight strech of road that dosen't have much traffic. Put you foot into the skinny pedal and keep it there. the truck will accelerate for a bit then you'll feel it fall flat. That's where your pump starts to defuel. The 3200 spring changes the point where you defuel. (at a higher rpm)

You're not loosing boost you're just don't have the engine under a load anymore so the boost falls off kinda like when you are crusin' empty down the road, Little to no boost. Put your foot into it and the boost comes right up.
Everyone is right. The higher RPM's you get into, the load on the engine becomes less, hence dropping your boost. But at the same time, your engine is defueling so you lose boost that way too. The spring installation will definately keep your boost up but you'll still see a little drop in boost due to the load coming off the engine.

It takes fuel to maintain boost. Stock governor springs start to retard fuel delivery at 2200 to 2400 rpms. It feels like somebody pinched a fuel line and boost drops off. A 3200 spring keeps full fuel till about 3000, maintaining that wahoo feeling much longer. Even under partial throttle, the spring prevents the severe rpm drop which makes my Getrag rattle and protest. It just makes everything nicer and smoother. It WILL negatively affect fuel mileage if you habitually run to max rpms with your foot on the floor. When pulling a load with a slush box you may see slightly better mileage because you can use a lower gear more effectively. The spring is the single most effective modification available for the first gen's. It makes them far more pleasant to drive in traffic.
If your auto wont go into OD without letting off the pedal, or getting to the defuel point, the TPS likely needs adjusting. Look it up in the sticky. I set Mom's to .62volts, +/- about .1volt.
