you can... rotate the cone so the depest point is facing to the front of the truck . ...if you want lots of smoke put the sping in the glove box.

Surely not 15hp on an intercooled truck. Injectors if you want 30+hp out of an IC'd truck. Tweaking the afc won't show any seat of the pants difference.

I agree, I only set the pin to its deepest point on my automatic truck, fuel screw is factory. It didn't make much difference in my case. Maybe if I set it back to the shallowest position I would notice a loss

The good news is, all the external adjustments on the VE are free, easy, and able to be put back in no time flat. Go ahead and mess around with the AFC settings. I have to agree with Bgilbert---you're not gonna see a big gain in power messing with the AFC. What the AFC does, is allows you to tune the pump for the available fueling. For instnce, if your full fuel screw is stock, setting your AFC very agressively will help you take advantage of the fuel that you do have. In my case, the pump is about one tweek from runaway, so I have the AFC set very conservatively. Run the starwheel to the bottom and point the deepest part of the cone toward the radiator. If it's too much for your taste after a test drive, just start bringing the starwheel up in 2-turn increments till you get what you want. Have fun! These old trucks are just too cool to not play around with!

oh yes it will.. if it didnt why then do we mess with it? there is pleny of seat of pants feel tweakin the AFC. the bottem end is where you will feel it.
