I have noticed, if i plug my truck in and set the HVAC controls to "def" before i shut her off the bottom 3rd of the windshield will stay ice free as long as it`s not to windy, also get heat within a mile or so down the road...yes I admit it, I am a wimp also

I guess it is all relative. I start thinking about pluggin in when it gets to -5 and I haven't run the truck for a few days.

Last night I came home, it was 10 degrees, hadn't run the truck for a week. Hopped in, started right up (I did let the grids finish their cycle) and plowed the driveway so I could get the Jeep in. This morning it was 5 degrees, truck started right up to go plow the rental house . . .

When I lived in WV, I had un-treated fuel gel on me in the high teens, low twenties. I have never had gelling problems up here -- I don't buy bulk fuel, and they must do something sort of right for the retail stuff.

Edit: If you want heat, get an old gasoline fired South Wind heater -- I have only seen them in old jeeps, but that gasoline flame sure is warm under the dash!

I have tried the heater a couple of times just because it is there. I don't see to many nights below freezing here but they do show up a couple of weeks a year. In or around 1984 the air temp dropped below zero overnight and I had a devil of a time with my Isusu diesl even though I had it plugged in. When it gets too cold to put the boat, like when rthe river freezes over, in the water I will need to plug in the Dodge.

38°! that's summer temperatures here! Our 97 has been started as low as -33 without being plugged in.

The 95 has been fired at down to -20 , but only because i can't plug it in at work , i plug it in when home just for the reason that i can jump in it , start it up and drive away in the morning.
