brake pedal to floor..what happened

brake pedal to floor..what happened

ok went to the shop today after mowing...backed trailer out of drive to leave and hit the brake pedal and it went to the floor..im thinking ruptured line or wheel cyl failure...popped hood and checked brake reservior...full of fluid..get back in and hit pedal and it holds at top like normal...drove back home and no other issues...any ideas...comments similar events...thanks in advance

master cylinder is more of a suspect

yea, sounds like something squirrelly with the master cylinder. There is no way I would have driven it home until that was looked into thoroughly.

Mine will do the same thing at times on the 92. I've replaced the brake booster and m/c combo 3 times with the same results after 3 or 4 month of installing them. I've about had it with the brake issue on this truck. I see a hydrovac in it's future. I have no leaks and have bled the system to the point when i walked in the parts store they would ask me if i needed brake fluid. Something is squirrely about this truck of mine. My 91 1/2 didn't do it and the 93 hasn't done it so far. Good luck with it and be careful with it.

same thing just happened on our 92.

blew the front brake line that hides down in the front crossmember. RUSTED!

When you jump in your truck and don't wait for the vacume to build to the booster your brakes will not work correctly. You have to wait till the brake light on your dash to go out for them to get enough vacume to work properly.
