Bosch 190 question

I just bought a set from PDR.

I thought I read some were that there were a 6 hole injector and the pod's were a 4 hole and the stock ones in my truck were a 7 hole. Speaking of the nozzle. The ones I got are a 4 hole and the nozzle # is 9299. If anyone can answer this for me that would be great. I just don't want the smoke like pod's and I thought the hole amounts were different.

Thanks
Yuri

Tron,

The 190's are a four hole injector. Bosch EDM'ed and AFM'ed with the proper spray angle that matches our piston bowl. I can't recall who I e-mailed, but some time ago, an injector shop mentioned about proper spray angle and atomization is more important than hole count. Hope this sheds some light.

Aloha,
Matt

Thanks Matt

What is your turbo and how do you like it? Is it just the stock turbo with the 60mm compressor up grade? Im going to have to upgrade mine now with the new sticks. What are your boost #'s?

Thanks again for your help

Yuri,

I'm running a Gillette Diesel Service upgrade. I don't remember the part number but the kit comes with a new 60mm (8 blade) wheel and new housing with an MWE slot machined in it. In my opinion, it was only an enhancement. With my current fueling, I can easily hit 1400* on the pyro. My converter is stock too. Boost is at 38lbs. with a 16cm non gated housing.

Aloha,
Matt

Would you recomend going with a bigger turbo to put more air into the engine instead of going with the 60mm upgrade?

Maybe the Htt stage 4 would be better because its more efficiant (from what Ive heard on hear) than the Gillet stage 2 which I think is what Matt has.

The HTT and Gillette Diesel Service are BOTH 60mm upgrades however, the HTT is the 6 blade wheel while the GDS is an 8 blade wheel. The 6 blade is the preferred wheel because it grabs a tad more air BUT it's not a difference you will feel. The 6 blade will require a different backing plate or machining of your existing plate for proper fitting as it's a little deeper. In my opinion, unless you can get one really cheap or free, you're better off saving some bucks and getting the GDS upgrade. If you feel you need more air than an 8 blade will pull in, you're better off getting a 62/14 or other comparable turbo.

Aloha,
Matt

It all depends on your current fuel settings and what your HP goals are. I'm only running 190's and my 60mm upgrade wasn't enough. I can still hit 1400* @ WOT.

But what are your fuel settings.

I understand what your saying about the turbo upgrades and will most likely go with the gillet.

Whats the asa Intake that you got and does it still work with the grid heaters?

thanks

My power screw is turned in about 3/4 turn from runaway, I have Bosch 190 Injectors, and an Ol Smokey pin. The turbo is an HTT stage II which is not near enough. I am wondering if the 60mm upgrade is good, or if I should just go with a bigger turbo

If you have anything bigger than the stock injectors and want to use the power for towing/hauling you need a bigger turbo. The hybrid upgrades basically give you a little headroom to turn up the pump, that's about it.

Pretty much, with my hybrid I can only keep about 20psi cool while towing.

I use my truck as both a daily driver and for towing. 26000lbs +. I guess the best thing would be a bigger turbo to keep things cool. Thank you everyone for the help. I hope I didn't hijack someone elses thread.

Richard.
