Boost numbers

Hi all,

I finally got the boost gauge installed and I took her for a test run and noticed I got at 15 boost max. I wasn't putting a load on her and at no point did it run higher than 15.

I was expecting upwards of 25 at max...

Could this be one of the reasons for poor performance? Post about performance

have you turned your pump up at all. i am at 24-25 psi on the boost gauge but 14-15 is avareg for stock trucks.

Sounds like a mostly stock truck. The auto absorbs a lot of power, so there may be some issues there, but I know very little about them. Get a pyro and get to tweaking the pump (and get to saving for a tranny )

btw, did you floor it on the test run? It takes a good amount of fuel to push 25psi with either an 18cm housing or the smaller Bank$ housing. Sounds like the pump is stock-ish.

oh, where are you measuring boost...that may tell us something.

She's all stock. I mean, it badged "banks power pack" when I bought it, but I don't know what they put in the engine compartment. I think the guy selling it thought it would help it sell.

But yeah, I was measuring boost and I wasn't towing anything.. just the truck and the open road.

And I did floor it... I was WOT until I hit 80 mph, which is as fast as she likes to go before she starts having convusions.

I'm going to be putting the EGT in tomorrow and I will report those numbers.

It's almost time to start playing with the pump

I wanted to get the gauges in there first so I could see what affect they had
