Body mount/ spring hanger

Guys I have a problem. My driver side frontmost body mount/ spring hanger is cracking. It's not an actual used body mount but it looks like a design change on all Dodges. My problem is where it backs up against the frame it has cracked in both back corners quite a bit. When I checked on this at the dealer, he found that two dealers in the States had them in stock to the tune of $279 apiece!!! Huh??? Anyways, since I don't like spending that much for anything I thought about making one. I already have an idea and was wondering if you guuys thought that it was better to make it. I don't really see where you actually need it. The spring hanger has one ricet going thru the bottom of it and that's it. I thought of making something like a 90 degree bracket with 2 triangulated support pieces supporting the two.Does this sound ok. I would then take the one rivet out that connects then two and bolt it to the hanger. The same goes for the frame mount but taking thee 3 rivets out. Have any of you ever had this problem? The truck is a 1993 w250 w/CTD and auto. It's got just under 119,000 and it's got an 8' Fisher plow on it. This last temp. fix is still holding but am looking for something more permanent. Can anyone help?? thanks guys!

I had a problem with my cab mount brackets on my 2WD, they rusted out around
the rubber pucks. I took the old one off and took it to a freind at a metal fab shop. He made a new set of brackets for me for about $40 ea. I put it all back together with new poly cab mount bushings.

I had a similar problem to your on my '81 RamCharger. I had 2 body mounts that were rusted out where the body mounts sat so i replaced them. I got them from the dealer for like $10 apiece. Thats why i can't believe that these other brackets are so **** expensive.

I had the same problem with mine acouple of years ago.Igot mine from the dealer but it was only 30 or 40 bucks.Maybe try a junk yard see if they would just cut the end of the frame and let you get the peice you need, I believe all 93 back 4x4s have that same mount.

Thats what i figured I'd be looking at but $279 ?? Something isn't right there. But when my dealer called the nearest one that had them in stock he confirmed the price off of his list. Does anyone on here work for a Dodge dealer and have access to the Parts computers or the micro fiches to possibly check into this for me. The dealers around here aren't that friendly or helpful unless you're buying a new vehicle.

I wonder if Daimler taking over Chrysler had anything to do with parts costing more. It seems to me that everything I price at the dealer is 3 times normal.
