I have been pondering finding another truck for awhile now due to the nonexistent cab mounts on my truck and there being nothing to weld to. So I hear about this first gen truck for sale at a little truck dealer not far away. I go and take a look. Immediately, Ihad to wipe the drool. It was just what I wanted, a 93 W350 club cab with 130K with black exterior and red interior with all options. The only downside was the auto. It looked pretty good but had some issues. I knew right where to look for problems so I did and of course, the thing is rotted out in all the same places mine was. No driver's side floor and the cab mounts are on their way out and somebody pop riveted a piece of metal on for a cab-corner. Here was my idea though, after all this wind. The guy wants $7500 for it but he said it has tranny issues. I told him that I would swap my built tranny into it so I didn't care. He told me that he would take less for it the way it is. I could keep my truck for parts since there's about $3000 worth of parts in it and swap them over. Get the body work done and I'd have a mint truck. However, my wife wants me to get something newer and said I couldn't do it.
I gave a lot less than that for the one in my gallery and the cab is virtually rust free, and that's in WV. You may want to look around a bit and surely you have a buddy with a trailer to get another one home!!!
you just gotta work on the wording -------- my wife said i couldn't do it tooo ----------- we decided that it wasn't going to work for us. what do you think? gotta go half way if you want to stay together , i keep telling myself. ha buy a none rust pu and transfere the parts . it is not worth all the work when there are decent gassers for 1500 bucks that are driveable. swap cabs or wiring . body work is costly and rust is never done. i saw just the reg cab off a diesel 1st gen said no rust but who knows stripped for 350 out here. don't get me wrong just kidding around with the wording above. it is aways a challenge when i want to drag another rig home. thinking of one now. (maybe i could sell you the cab.)
Check around for older gasser trucks of the same body style. Parts easily interchange and are the same. Almost my entire body has been replaced by one from a '93 gasser 1/2 ton that had no rust anywhere
