Well, I hope you'd filter it before you dump it into the tank. I've got 55+ gallons of cleaned filtered WVO I should be dumping into my tank. How are you guys getting along with just dumping the filtered stuff into your tanks without any special equipment added to the truck?

My 100% bio is my own out of a Fuelmeister II processor using waste restaurant oil.

I do not know if people are putting waste vegetable straight into their tanks. Understand tha wvo is not biodiesel. WVO needs to be about 170* to atomize at the injectors.

Biodiesel does not have as much cetane, like say 92% as much, or something like that. But with a 20% bio/80% petro, I can not imagine you will notice the difference in power. I bet you can hear the difference in the quieter injection pump.

I still get 20-21MPG whether I run B100 or D#2. Some say they get less MPG/power on B100, others say not. I'm of the opinion that at $1/gallon to make it "I don't care" . And that my understanding is that bio contains fewer BTU's but burns more efficiently so it's a push.

My engine immediately sounded quieter and the exhaust note changed a bit, like the harsh snappy bark softened around the edges a little.

I've run it for years, first in a Chevy/Detroit 6.2, now in the Cummins. Definite loss of power and mpgs the higher the percentage, though with something as weak as the 6.2, it was harder to tell.

It is a most efficient solvent, and if put in a fuel system totally new to it, will plug filter after filter until that fuel system is as clean as the day it was made. A lot of people put a cheap inline filter upstream from the expensive OEM one during this process, if I could do it over again, I would too.

Another thing, is that Bio gradually rots away rubber and fuel seals made before about the mid 90s...stronger the percent Bio in the fuel, the quicker. Seen it with my own eyes. Modern rubber is not an issue, the best bio-resistant fuel lines are made from a substance called Viton.

I got a good deal on a VE pump seal kit a while back for some of the external seals, at some point I'll need to replace the internals. This kit is Viton.

I usually run 10-20 percent Bio, but add two stroke as well.

i run a 50/50 blend of used and extencivly filtered used trans fluids did notice a 2 mpg diffrence and a little more power from the cleaning efect on fuel injecters and my truck is stock as far as filters cut fuel bill in half and a relitively steady supply stockpiled about 200 gal for now lookin for bigger tanks and for pre mix filter is a 5 micron filter. i am recycling and helpin the enviorment

You can run WVO mixed into your fuel with a few provisions. One, it needs to be relatively warm outside...like not dropping below 50, and two, don't go above like a 50/50 mix. That being said, I've run a 30% mix well into winter. The truck will idle kinda low until it comes to operating temp and I've gelled my filter on occasion but other than that the truck doesn't seem to care.

I dont know if it felt like I had a loss of power, but definatly mpg loss. And now that you mention it, it did sound quieter!

Do you think my filter is clogged at all since I ran the B20? I usually dont run it, but I was driving right by the station the last two tanks.. and its like $0.15 less per gallon.

Yeah, your truck will just lay down, no power. Change the fuel filter and it'll feel like a new truck for a while, then it'll get sleepy again. Mine was clean in two filter changes, and the filler neck looks like new metal inside.

If I switched to D#2 my MPG might increase a little, but my $$ per mile will more than double. Totally worth making the bio.

hey guys i found out its B5 !!! put some b5 in BBOB (blue bucket of bolts) (< mom made that up) and it doesn't idle as low now in D, like it used to chug in drive, like shake the truck viscously. drove it about 30 miles each way to the scrap yard today with the bed full of copper/brass radiators and aluminum...i mean full. heavy alum. too... wheels...cast.

also engine seems quieter, may be me though i've been up forever

I've heard a lot of pretty convincing testimony that ULSD is hell on rotary injection pumps and seals. Bio is a good way to get your lube back, but the issues with fuel filters and older rubber are a thing you will have to attend to eventually with enough use. B5 has a low enough percentage that it will be a while, though. B20 or B50 in a fuel system that has not seen it before plugs those filters with lightning speed.

Earlier tonight I filled the tank up with B20, it was about halfway down. Added a little more two stroke than usual, probably about an ounce per gallon, and the idle is a really smooth purr.
