GasganoFJ60 - Do like I did and upgrade to a 5" intake tube.
Then you can use a piece of 4" PVC which just happens to fit into the 4510 and into the stock rubber intake which just happens to fit into a piece of 5" exhaust pipe.
BTW the end of the stock rubber intake that connects to the compressor just happens to fit into the 5" pipe also.

Check my photos on 'the other' cummins forum :

The one shown is still the fireplace flue I used initally. It has since been replaced with a 5" exhaust pipe. Looks the same except NO dents

Build the 4" intake and then get a K&N, AFE, Airraid, Amsoil or any of the other filters besides a paper filter. After reading some of these posts, I'm convinced an oiled cotton gauze or nanofibre or any of the others, even if it's smaller, is still going to flow more air. And in the long run, they're actually cheaper.

Still wouldnt work. My filter is a 4.5" inlet.
I was able to find plenty of 6"-4" reducers in my searching and amsoil does carry a cone nanofiber filter thats 6."
Ill think Ill upgrade to that in the future, budget willing.

I'm no expert by any stretch. I know this though for a fact, I have the K&N that fits the stock box. When I clean the K&N the wheels on the turbo I could wipe down with a white cloth. I switched to the expensive BHAF and after a major job each time to replace it, the turbo wheels would be dirty.

This is all I know about the BHAF. I was using the BHAF with the stock rubber hose, it could be that this is not suitable. I just know the K&N keeps it cleaner. I'm not sure if it flows as much air but, it is cleaner. Just my .02

Hey Gasgano I guess you didn't realize that that nanofibre filter is a 4.5" inside diameter outlet but the outside diameter of the outlet is going to be 5" You could just use the OD and get a 5 to 4" reducer or something.
It's the same as my filter but mine is the one with the offset outlet; the 4091. It's got a comparable surface area but the ID outlet is 4" not 4.5" like yours.

The K&N keeps the compress clean by sand blasting it .

Hmmmm....I see what you're saying. Wouldn't the turbo wheels be worn down from all that blasting for sure by the 230,000 mile mark?

I think Ken's Machine was using satire....

I heard the K&N's let stuff through, so I switched to the AFE.

maybe i'll hold off on my k&n and sell it to someone who prefers it. then use that money towards an AFE or BHAF. i like hearing all these responses from guys with experience. i prefer to hear that than a company's claim to fame that just tries to get you to spend more money on a less efficient (filtration-wise) product.

I still got my K&N too. Who knows for sure if they're bad or not. I just think the ASA modifieds intake is way cooler looking..
