BHAF & Exhaust??
BHAF & Exhaust??
Right now I using a K&N filter in the stock set up. How much of a REAL difference if I change to a BHAF and where do you put it? I've thought about adding additional air vents in the stock intake but I don't want to butcher anything until I'm sure. I'm also using a banks exhaust 3" to muffler then 3.5 to the rear of the rear tire. I've thought about going straight pipe or going to 4" exh.. Any of you using a straight pipe with a stock length set up?
I'm new at the dieseling and appreciate your opinions, Thanks

Most install it in the same location as the OEM air filter box.

The filter itself won't do much for a bone stock truck. HOWEVER. The additional air flow afforded by the filter will allow one to add more fuel without the EGTs going up too high ~ meaning more power.
The increase in the exhaust system roughly equates the same plus improvements in turbo spool. It's my understanding the biggest bottle-neck in the exhaust is right where the exhaust plumbing goes over the rear axle followed by the TOP (turbine outlet pipe).

Hope this helps.
I 'spect the fact of the matter is, most of us started with the K&N (I did
).
While, for its size, it does flow a lot of air, . . . but it's at the expense of more trash getting through. I ended up dumping mine after discovering some impact damage to the leading edges of the turbos compressor impeller.
