Best source for an A518 and TQ (not goerend)

Before I get 100 votes for Goerend I want to say I have called and emailed multiple times with no response.

I want a simple bolt in replacement for 350-400hp and towing 15,000 to 20,000# loads.

I do not want to switch this truck to a 47rh.

Should I just go local or is there a source for this level transmission out there without hidden fees and a bunch of bs to sort thru.

I just want to pick up the phone and order it!

The old A518 is out and apart and is toast!

You can try Suncoast (in Florida I believe) or PATC (in Louisianna I think). I've not dealt with Sun Coast. I bought all the parts for my rebuild from PATC. Although I can't say they went out of their way to make my order perfect (I got some mismatched parts), they did eventually make everything right.

glad to hear i'm not the only one having problems getting threw to someone at goerend. I called three weeks ago talk someone for a few minutes, just kinda getting basic information then she said i should hear back from dave in a day of two. Still haven't heard a word.
DTT isn't bad from what i've read, probably what i'll go with if not goerend.

the other big names are DTT, Suncoast, and PATC like already mentioned.

IMO if your going to be hauling that heavy i would want something that has been proven durability and has a warentee. I would try to steer away from any local shop unless if you really know they will stand behind their work. I don't know about DTT and Suncoast but Goerend does offer a LIFETIME warentee on there converters(not sure about about a trans if you buy the whole thing). even if you do something stupid all you have to do is pay the shipping and you have a new converter. Or if down the road you change turbos and the converter is to tight to get bigger turbo spooled they will exchange it for one that fits your needs.

There are members on here that have trannys with suncoast and DTT parts and they are happy with it.

Thats my 2 cents...

sry, but I gotta, don't give up on Goerend if you can't get in direct contact with Dave himself, why not call one of his distributors. Lloyd is a helluva guy to deal with and will get back to you. tell him what ya got, what ya might do in the future, how ya drive, what ya pull.......

feel free to give me a shout. I can get you taken care of if you are looking for the Goerend route. Dave has been running a lot of the sales thru his dealers so he can concentrate on his work. There used to be a list of us dealers up on his site, unfortunately a few ruined it for everybody and the lost was taken down. So if there is anything I can do for you, just drop me a line

I am talking with a local distributor and hopefully we can get something going with pricing at least to start.
I got the impression Dave is a busy guy but I didnt realize they had local distributors.
Maybe that route will work out.
