belt tensioner.... redliner/redlinear
I was looking for that guy "redliner" all over e-bay. His store name is "redlinear".. I finally found him and he's got what I need... but let me ask you all as I really don't know... two questions: will a 1996 ctd belt tensioner fit a '91? .... Can the belt tensioner be rebuilt..i.e. Bearings?

I wouldn't buy a used tensioner. You can put a new pulley on, but the pivot point on the tensioner is usually the problem. Tensioners are the same from '89 - '02.

Would I do better to go to Cummins instead of the dodge dealer?? Just curious. Will I be able to see where the problem is when I take it off? Pulley or pivot point?

Go to your local auto parts store. I think Dayco makes the one Cummins sells, and Dodge gets their Cummins related parts from Cummins. The Dodge dealer is usually the most expensive place to get Cummins parts.

BTW, I don't mean this to discourage you from doing business with Redlinear - I just picked up some more parts from him myself. I've dealt with him before with good results. Hopefully I can get factory cruise working in my truck soon.
It's just that some parts aren't worth buying used.

Yea... thanks... I had read all the threads with redlinear and all of them have been positive. He lists a lot of things that are a pita to find. Thanks again Dave. Rocky
