BD exhaust manifold EGT bung location

I decided to go with the provided port for my EGT probe on my new BD manifold, now the guage is giving my spirratic readings...




anybody else run into this issue with this manifold, or do I have another problem?

those thermocouples are subjected to major heat, are you sure your connections are not making contact with each other, if used provided heat shrink, ive seen connects break through shorting lead circuit, I had to unwrap and re insulate where the small screws and nuts made contact with each other.

Yup, Thermocouples send milli-volt signals to the gauge, any little short or open will cause issue with the reading.

If you want to rule out a gauge problem you can just measure the milli-volts from the probe alone with a multimeter.

I think most pyros use a K-type thermocouple (yellow/red wires).

The location of the junction (tip) is important as well. It should be in the center of the tube. If it is touching the metal, it will give you inaccurate readings.
