I'm not? That's news to me. Maybe that's why the wife left. It was all I could do to put it in the truck, it was a 2 move operation. When are you going to be in Jerome? We have a cold front coming in this week, but I guess that cold is a relative term. Hey that last statement reminds me of the ex. ...Mark

its a Marine batt, and thanks maybe368, I`m in the same need a battery boat and was looking for something with as much punch as possible. This looks like it will fit the bill (but empty the wallet at the same time lol)...the 6-7 year old Interstate workaholic in it now decided to take a permanent holiday.

Thanks ChrisLib, google is trying to impose it's will on me down here in Mexico. No matter how I word the search, all of the results are from the Sears stores in Mexico, which apparently does not carry this particular battery. It is pricey, but from what I understand, it is an Odyssey, which is Latin for pricey I think. It is a sealed lead acid AGM type battery that can be mounted in any position, although there is some on-line controversy as to whether you should or not..Mark P.S. I just clicked on the link that you provided and it brings up the Sears.mx search page. I have to apologize to google, I think that it's a Sears thing...

Here it is at Odyssey's site. All I can say is WOW!!!!! 900 dollars. It doesn't say, but the weight says 35, I am sure that that is in kilograms, which is 77 pounds. The guy at sears said 85 and it sure felt like 85, so I am weaker than I thought...Mark I see that that is a New Zealand site and that must be New Zealand dollars which would be 732 us dollars. I am having a real problem getting to US sites...

I found this discussion on a boat forum:

EnerSys Signs Multi-Year Contract to Provide Sears Holdings With Long-Life DieHard(R) Platinum BatteriesREADING, Pa. and HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the world's largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, today announced it has signed a multi- year contract with Sears Holdings (Nasdaq: SHLD) to manufacture and supply Sears with a newly categorized DieHard Platinum branded battery for aftermarket automotive and marine applications. DieHard is America's most preferred automotive battery, among those stating a preference.
Beginning in March, 2007, Sears Auto Centers will be the exclusive distribution channel for DieHard Platinum batteries. "By working with EnerSys on the new DieHard Platinum battery, we continue the legacy of innovation that was established with the original DieHard battery 40 years ago," said Rick Sawyer, vice president/general merchandise manager of Sears Auto Centers. "We're confident this new battery will live up to the DieHard brand name and that users will be pleased with its performance. These premium-grade batteries are designed for a longer life than traditional batteries, offer increased levels of safe operation, can withstand extreme heat and cold, and are durable for consumer automotive/marine applications. The DieHard Platinum battery will offer proven vibration resistance to the consumer market.
The new DieHard Platinum batteries have up to 28% more Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) than comparatively sized spiral Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries providing much more starting power to automobiles and boats, along with unmatched reserved capacity. These thin-plate pure-lead batteries will carry DieHard batteries' best-ever, free replacement warranty. See your local Sears store for written warranty details.
"We're thrilled to provide this high-end, durable DieHard Platinum version to consumers," said John Craig, chairman, president and chief executive officer of EnerSys. "This partnership represents a great opportunity for more users to benefit from our pure-lead technology products."
The DieHard Platinum batteries are manufactured in EnerSys' U.S. manufacturing facility in Warrensburg, Mo, where the first DieHard Platinum came off the production line today. They have a valve-regulated design that allows them to be installed in any orientation, except inverted, without spilling and the U.S. Department of Transportation has classified them as non- spillable for safe shipping.
For more information, contact Richard Zuidema, Executive Vice President, EnerSys, P.O. Box 14145, Reading, PA 19612-4145. Tel: 800/538-3627; Web site: EnerSys Home.

I e-mailed EnerSys this weekend, their response:

That is a very astute observation. We private label the Sears DieHard
Platinum batteries and they are rebadged Odyssey batteries.

So, it IS a rebadged odyssey, right out of the manufacturer's mouth...Mark

Group 31 batteries are used in ag equipment. You can usually find a good one at a farm store for about $100. Around here that would be Fleet-Farm.

The Workaholic is a strong battery but since it is a commerical battery it only has like an 18 month warranty.
I was on the road when my battery failed and I was able to use Siri on my I-phone to locate the nearest Interstate dealer. When I showed up the dealer informed me that my existing Interstate Workaholic unit was one month shy of 12 years old! So of course I bought another Interstate battery; I'm a big believer in said brand...

Used in heavy trucks also. That adds equipment and truck dealers as additional places to get batteries.

I went with the sears diehard marine group 31, becasue it is a rebranded odessey and it has a 1 year warranty. Most parts store 31's are considered commercial and have a 30 day warranty.

Even though mine usually start to flake out ONE month after the warranty expires, I still usually buy another Interstate.

I always have to help the guys install the new battery because they get pretty intimidated by all of the solenoids, 2/0 and 3/0 cables snaking around the engine compartment and connections to the battery

A battery box off the frame rail would be once to mount an 8-D with an access panel into the bed.

Bought NAPA's commercial 31 group locally for $114. Tried like heck to buy an Interstate but there were none in stock up here in the boonies.
Now, I need to know WHERE to buy that monster stock positive battery cable. The biggest one I can find is tiny. Is the stock one available anywhere in your experience?
Thanks for all the good input Gents. H.
