Question Battery leak down.

My battery is getting slowly drained when sitting unused for a week.
I am getting a 250 milliamp load from some where.
I removed all the fuses, all the bulbs, disconnected the ignition switch and still got the load.
No computer on this one, Where should I look next?

Thanks, tom

250ma. Is only 1/4 of an amp and if you battery is in decent condition should not be a problem.

Try and disconnect the B+ lead on the alternator, I assume you are checking between the battery terminal and post?

Other places to check are:
Trailer connector if you have one, 250ma. could be caused from a WET connection,
Glove box light,

Carbon tracked Grid relays,

Halo Ring timer.

Trailer Brake Controller,

Did you disconnect your Under Hood Light?
I have seen this drain down a battery if you happen to park facing up a steep driveway.

In addition to Fuses there are also circuits that are protected using Fuse Links.

Also although you are measuring your drain through the system, a battery with a dirty top can drain the battery dead because the electrolyte is conductive.

i have this same problem but mine will go dead in like 1 full day what could be drawing that much power all the time? but i have a chevy too. It is a military truck so it is stripped to the gills no inside lights no underhoood lights but there is a big trailer connection that was added by the guy i bought it from and after reading what you wrote Jim i believe that is a good place to start. but any other suggestions would be welcome. thanks

You might want to checkl you alternator, they will sometimes cause a drain on the battery. I rebuild alternators, voltage drains, aren't real common, but they do happen.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
30 ma would be more reasonable current draw. In checking, if you disconnect a terminal and hook up a ampmeter it will show excess current draw. Connect a ampmeter terminal to cable and hold probe against bottom of post. When you remove cable, the circuit is maintained and reads true current draw. Trust this statement. If you still have over 30-40 ma a problem exist.
Do you have a cell phone charger hooked up? You must find the circuit that reduces current draw! Then futher diagnois can be accomplished. Have you checked for a weak battery???
