Axle Shaft Wear

How much wear can I have on an Dana 60 drivers side front axle shaft before I need to replace the axle shaft?

The diff was run a long time with no gear oil. I'm redoing bearings on drivers side as they worked loose.

Axle shaft seems to have some galling and noticeable wear, not sure how much I can have before I need to do something, I'm guessing that would mean pulling the carrier and replacing the bearings inside the case.

Don't plan on using 4x4 much anyway, so just want it to be serviceable when I do need it.

inner axle shafts ride inside the diff side gears, unless the splines show damage, nothing to worry about, the seal surface can look nasty, tubes will collect dirt/mud, contacting exposed metal. low oil will take carrier/pinion bearings first, front would have to be engaged under constant load to get that hot, oil gets too low for ring gear to sling up to the bearings. most cases the gear set can still be ok, bearing noise will be extreme.
