I was just wondering what the highest HP/TQ achived in a non lockup 1st gen automatic ? Anyone over 400hp/800tq ? Is it possible without the lockup torque converter ?

So all you automatic guys that have dyno'd post some #'s

I'll start 301hp/538tq with a completly stock auto. #2 only

 

367/847 with a lockup trans, found out later that the front clutch was gone at the time of the dyno. Fuel screw bottomed out, 3200, custom fuel pin, plus the mods in my sig.

 

No other coments or thoughts anyone.

I'm just wondering if it's worth while to completly rebuild the tranny with improvements tosee if I can get to 400hp with a non-lockup tranny.

 

I think the late Pastor Bob was the highest HP 518 truck with 373hp. But that was before injectors hotter than POD's and other improvements that are available now. If my truck is still together by next month, (Friday night drag racing) I'll dyno it with the new additions, Scheid injectors and SP66 on the auto truck. I would guess very close to 400rwhp after the first test drive after the charger install.
