Auto trans.Temp. Gage and converter

I am thinking of getting a deep, finned, aluminum trans.pan.Where is the best place to put the sending unit for the temperature gage? While I am on the subject of the automatic trans.has anyone used a heavy duty torque converter from Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions in Phoenix AZ.? Thanks.

I put my sending unit in the output line of the transmission, using a "T" fitting where the factory temperature switch goes.

There is a lot of debate over whether it's best to measure the temp of the fluid coming out or in the pan. I prefer to know the temp at the hottest location - just after it leaves the converter. That way I can adjust the throttle and gears accordingly. The ideal situation would be to measure both, but I don't want half a dozen gauges across the top of my dash....

Yep, just picked up a brass "T" fitting and a short nipple to connect it to the factory fitting. I can't take credit for the idea - I got it from Sam'sRams on TDR.
