1. I notice that both of my CTD auto transmissions shudder in first gear when accelerating at 50% it goes away at WOT and part throttle. My 90' with the three speed does it a little in second also, every thing else seems to be fine. Is there a quick fix to this problem like changing to a diff type of ATF or some type of additive?

2. I seen a site on auto trannys that the owner uses straight hydraulic oil instead of ATF anybody tried this or seen it done?

 

I have not experienced any transmission shudder, just a very weak torque converter. I put 24 oz. of Lucas transmission treatment in mine and it seemed to help the TC and the shifts are more solid. The stuff has the consistency of STP with red food coloring but it works.

 

have you had your driveline checked out? new spicer u joints and carrier, balanced at an authorized spicer driveline specialist?? I had the exact same prob with my 3 spd going into 2nd, but now it's cured

I have heard about it, but have not decided to get it. Does it really help things shift more solid? Also, What do you mean about it helping the TC? (I am not that educated on Automatics) Thanks,
