Auto tans question

I have recently purchased a '91 w250 ctd with overdrive auto. Can anyone tell me what trans I have and if it is a lock-up or not? T/C almost feels mushy under acceleration.

If it has overdrive it's a A518. The stock torque converters are not very good.

I have a Gear Vendors OD for my truck, and they are a little pricey, though mine not only allows me to cruise at a constant speed @ less RPMs, it also allows me a higher top speed over all.

That would be nice. Any way to get rid of the mushy feeling from the converter?

A new torque converter from Goerend, DTT, or another known transmission builder will help, but you'll also then be putting more torque through the rest of the trans. To keep it from slipping you'll need either a shift kit or a performance valve body.
