Anyone using Valair clutch's?

I emailed them and they said i could get away with their 400hp ceramic clutch setup. How much power have you guys used with them and how did their kits work? I hope to make near 400 rwhp but no more than that. I might not change my setup at all from where it is now. I dont tow or pull.

My current clutch thinks its supposed to be a torque converter and never stops slipping.

2nd question.... how close to interchangeable are nv4500 clutchs and getrag? there are nv4500 clutchs that are rated rated for more power (600 or so) and id rather be safe than sorry. changing clutchs isnt much fun.

nv4500 clutch = 12.25" diameter

getrag clutch = 13" diameter

you can use the 12.25" on the 13" flywheel you have. however, a common upgrade for 2nd/3rd gens is a 13" flywheel so they can run bigger clutches

MAY have to have the center of the flywheel bored out to 7" or something for a relief area... but it will say that on the website. Otherwise: bolt on.

i like southbend honestly. i don't have a single complaint, nor have i heard of any. it'll cost more but i've always believed in "you get what you pay for" the single disc con OFE (organic material on one side and feramic on the other) that's in mine is rated for 475hp. it'd be hard to reach that unless i decide to go huge injectors and twins so it should handle just about all i plan to throw at it... for now anyway. retail is $900 but again...

Just put a Valair towing double disc in the boys 06, it was a little grabby at first and with about 2 weeks of normal driving it seated in and now its just fine with very smooth engagement. Not sure if South Bend is any better or not, so far very pleased with this one oh and its not cheap either bout 1050.00$ I plan on using one of their single disc setups in my 92 D350 dually.

If you are talking about the one with 4 big buttons on the disc, I have it in my '93. It holds good, but is very grabby.

Thanks for the input Capn'. I don't have any big horsepower in my truck but I do haul antique pullers in the summer time and live in the mountains of PA. I bought my truck & a 24' gooseneck from an elderly man (77) that hauled hay with it and wasn't shall we say very gentle with it and I can tell the clutch is well used. I don't want grabby just a good reliable clutch probably go with the organic single 13" conversion as the wife likes to drive my truck also. When we get heavier loads we usually take the boy's 06 3500. Yea its like The Head said a while back about the 3rd gens, seems like every 21 yr old has one, my boy is 22 but the power and the G56 trans are awsome when it comes to hauling heavy antique tractors although he's going riding 4 wheelers this weekend in Ohio and wants to take the old 1st Gen cuz its fun to drive. Go figure.
