Cool Anyone know of?

Well fellow smokers, To go along with my 01', I've been given a 93' 4x4. The engine and drive train are in good shape but the body is all beat to heck. Has anyone seen or heard of someone putting an older body on these trucks. I was thinking something like a 40's or 50's dodge., Have tried to get some info from these fiberglass body builders with no luck. I want to build a radical, front wheel drive racer for the strip. Any info would be appreciated.

Thought about it, but you would have to use the old style radiator, and probably lose the inner-cooler. Not sure about room for the turbo and you would ahve to enjoy rubbing shoulders with your passenger.

Try this on for size. Get a late 40's power wagon body and put that on the Dodge frame. I don't know if it can be done or not but I am gonna try it some day.

I agree with Paws. The post-war '46-'68 Power Wagon that looks like WWII vintage is a natural for the swap. Except, I don't know if there's enough length between the grill and firewall for the Cummins with an intercooler. I gotta git one of them, they're way

The power wagon sounds interesting also , I believe I could do a little stretching to front to accomodate. Also thought about an old Willis Pick up. I'll just have to shop around. Want something different.

****** might be on the small side, I.H. used that similar body in later years too. They used heavier engines as well as Chrysler trannys and Dana running gear. I'm looking at all options as well. I wouldn't mind a 4x4 Travelall for the CTD if I can't find a crew cab.

The CTD is way too long for ****** sheetmetal. I measured it up for my station wagon when I was doing the diesel swap. Of course, I was using the original frame and front end at the time too. ****** front track is only 57", by the way, so you either have to get serious flares, or cut your axles down to use that sheetmetal as well.

I have been day-dreaming about a power wagon sheet-metal transplant to my truck for some time. The hood would have to be stretched, and you would really have to squeeze the radiotor and intercooler into the grill & have them both extend down into the frame behind the bumper to get enough surface area.

For the most part, I like sitting next to my passenger (I assume we aren't talking about doing this to haul the co-workers to the job site . . .).
