Anyone experimenting with different AFC springs?
Anyone experimenting with different AFC springs?
Or are starwheel adjustments enough?
I think I read somewhere the stock spring allows movement to the full fueling of the fuel pin at 10 psi? Maybe a stronger spring would prevent this.

I bought my Denny T and put it back in my pump, so I am wondering about this again.

John,
Haven't been winding any new springs lately, the one below was the 3rd one I made and now it has been modified slightly.
If you'll look at the top and bottom ends you'll see they overlap the next coil. I filed both ends flat so the spring sits more vertical - it used to be really tilted. I then filed them down so that instead of overlaping the next coil they end just at the coil. That shortened the spring so I had to heat it and stretch it back out.
Because I ended up with less coils after all the filing etc, the spring is actually somewhat stronger. My test rig isn't that accurate but I picked up about 5 lbs of resistance putting full compresion above 35lbs where it used to be closer to 30lbs. With my turbo putting out over 45psi it easily compresses the spring.
Have not made a full blown WOT run yet with the modified spring but with the valet off - allowing boost to get to the AFC - I've noticed on the hiway when I accelerate briskly, without flooring it, there is no smoke if I keep the boost under 20...Trying the same thing at 28 - 30 psi boost there is a puff of smoke that clears up in a couple of seconds.
These observations are made in my passenger side mirror at a starting speed of 65 and accelerating to 85. The pin drops onto the ramp of my M2 pin but only about 1/2 way down with 30psi, but one quick WOT burst at 65 got me to 90 with smoke rather quickly - I didn't time it but should have - and the pin does go all the way down to full fuel.
