I swear I try and look stuff up before I ask these dumb-*** questions.

So, I was thinking about taking up the slack in my throttle cable, and then read here that I should watch someone floor it, and see if the thing turns more after that. Well, it doesn't, but I was looking at this other cable... that has slack in it. what's this cable? and is that too much slack?

That looks to be for an aftermarket cruise control. Those always have a bunch of slack.

I do believe thats the cruise control also. The slack is visible because the tin tube just to the right of your finger is suppose to be attached at the front to the cable.

My center (TV) cable had seperated just like that. Did all kinds of weird things shifting. I slid the silver guide sleeve back into place and used JB weld to keep it there.

On the cruise control, it really shouldn't make a big difference since the cruise just pulls when its activated. It might keep the cable from wearing as fast though.

yes its the cruize, both my trucks have that set up from the factory. I would take all the slack out. when I pull loads in the hils with cruize on, the cruize will not quite go to full throttle even with the all the slack out.
