All i need to do is get the shifter into the getrag and i think I'm done, but...
I can't get it to go in. I couldn't get the shaft to spline up nice while I was installing the tranny and I put the shifter nubby in to pop it into gear, and now I can't figure out how to get it back into neutral.
Looking inside the shifter hole, there are two roundish cylinder deals to the left and right of where the shifter should sink, and then a rectangular piece directly between them. Can't figure out how to get the hole all lined up.
Help?!?! PLEASE!

The little rectangular piece has to go forward or backward depending on which gear you stuck it in....i put mine in 4th which inside the transmission is the little rectangluar peice all the way forward and i had to move it back a little to get neutral.
the shifter stub instal is kinda a 2 person job. gotta push it down against that spring and another person to tap the little ring down in there and put the snap ring in.

How do I figure out if it needs to go forward or back? I really have no idea what gear she's in.
And on top of that, I apparently don't have the alignment screws, so I'm going to have to rig something.
What a disaster today is turning out to be.
