Question Alcoa Wheels: Hubcap options for Dodges

I just got a set of 94'-97' Ford Alcoa wheels. I am planning on putting them on my 93' ram. I have the original front 4x4 hubcaps, but I don't have the rear wheel hubcaps. I believe the rear hubcaps are large in size and say "FORD" on them. I wanted to know if anyone makes plain chrome hubcaps for the rear wheels without any writing on them? What kind of lug-nuts are used for these wheels, especially since i'm installing them on my Dodge?

When I put alcoa wheels on my truck I used wheel nuts from a GM 1ton 5/8" x18. The original steel wheels on the Dodge were coined and when I went to the aluminum wheels I had to taper the holes in the aluminum wheels for the studs so that the tapered wheel nuts would center the wheel on the hub.

Alcoa makes them. they say alcoa on them. Also you can probally get some hub covers from the auto parts store since they come in common sizes. Some people have adapted 2nd gen cover to fit on the alcoas as well with a stock mopar lug nut. the p/n is out there for it. Just search the forum for alcoa.

Did you ever get your alcoas on Marv? I can't find a set anywhere around IL.

So Alcoa makes the wheel lug nuts? Might be a dumb question but........Ford and Dodge have the same thread size on the wheel studs? Thanks

I have Alcoa wheels mounted on my '79 Ford. I bought lug nuts on Ebay for about $40.00. They are tapered to center the wheel and have a larger diameter taper than the nut size (does that make sence?) that keeps the socket from hitting and marking up the wheel. Right now I don't have any caps on them, I just cleaned and painted the hubs gloss black. It looks ok for a poor boy.

They make hub covers and lug nuts both. The deal with the wheels you have is they are made to accomidate a 9/16 stud. The cone for the lug nuts on the wheel is a standard 60 degree. some have used stock lug nuts for the alcoas on the dodge. IMO I would not. The alcoa lug nuts have a larger seating area of a 9/16 lug nut but with the 1/2-20 threads. The alcoa lug nuts also have threads for a simulated plastic big rig nut cover. Southwest wheel sells the alcoa nuts and covers.
Now your local mopar/dodge dealer will have a similar lug nut with the larger cone but the 1/2-20 thread that was made for the dakota or something like that. That Mopar lug nut can hold a second gen wheel cover on which someone on here has done.
The prices are from what I remember 1.95 per lug nut for the alcoa nuts. 2.79 per lug nut for the mopar lug nuts.
I went with the alcoa nuts since I had all the chrome lug nut covers that came with my wheels since they didn't come off a ford.
I tried just about every other place for lug nuts with no luck. Those are the only 2 shows in town. If anyone knows of some thing else that works let me know. Hope that all makes sense. If you need help with part #'s let me know and I can round them up for you. If I can before work tonight I'll take some pics of the lug nuts and how they fit on the wheels.

I'm still looking for a set of wheel locks for them. Also the tires are C rated and a little bit aged for my taste. On a steel rim i would run them but the risk of taking out one of the alcoas or the truck its not worth it. Hopefully come spring I'll buy some tires and mount them up. No sense in running them in the winter to ruin them.

I bough a set of alcoas and had to buy the lug nuts form southwest wheel. Will take some pictures and post. the lug nuts are mu7tch better than the stock ones that came with the steel wheels and better than the chrome ones I got with a set of eagle alloys. They also have the center caps If you need part numbers let me know I can look them up. also Have 2 of the closed caps that I am not using.

The term for the lugnuts is "bulge". That is what I needed for my American Eagle wheels. I had the same problem. The wheels are designed for a 9/16" stud, and using them on a 1/2" stud.

Gorilla makes a few different ones that will work. Here is the criteria you need to look for:

1/2-20 thread
13/16" hex
bulge style
60 deg. taper

Thanks for all the awesome info guys! My total goal is to find the correct lug nuts that will fit my dodge and also retain the stock hubcap style that is on the rear wheels. I like the stock hubcaps used on the wheels, they cover up the lug nuts. I have the front 4x4 hub caps, but would like the rear caps (minus the Ford writing). I'd like to see some pics.......Thanks
