advice on moving exhaust pipe

advice on moving exhaust pipe

putting a 12 cm housing on my 91 non IC auto. the pipe will move back. will this start to melt the heater box?

mine is back touching the plastic or ruber insolation on back firewall has not even warp it because of the heat shield on the exhaust also use tri-flow or something to losen i use 15mm wrench and tap it with hammer to break them losse then i used 1/2 wrench with hammer to take bolts out of turbo then gently tap hot side back and forth with a hammer and it came apart

kieth, the non-ic pipe does not have the heat shield.

I think the best way to do that would be to take about a one inch slice out of it a couple inches behind the turbo flange and weld it back up.

I just cut a little of the insulation off the heater box to make sure it cleared. Worked/s fine. I would second the best route to be slicing and rewelding though. But whatever works! It's not a necessity. Luckily my 4" still clears it

Or you could make a heat shield and and weld her up to be extra safe
