Is there an access hole under the carpet to get at the top of the tranny? My tranny is always wet and a mechanic told me this morning that there should be a plate there so I could see where the oil is coming from. My truck is not at home for me to check but I don't remember seeing anything from the bottom. Is there a vent on top that could be plugged?

 

no access cover in the floor. Dodge did away with that sometime in the early 80s.

 

I believe that there is a vent that could be plugged but there isn't an access cover unless the previous owner cut one for you or unless the W has one that the D doesn't have. One of Dodge's omissions.

 

Pull the shifter boot(s) and you might get a look see.
