I have to go to Texas in a couple weeks so I figured I would freshen up, seal and recharge my AC sytem. I just pulled the new expansion valve out of it's packing and it says R134, I still have most of a 30 pounder of R12 and I am going to recharge with R12.

Is this expansion valve going to cause me any problems, like not making the air as cool as the R12 one? Any ideas?

 

You should be able to clean up the old valve and reuse with it. I don't know how much the difference is in the two, but if you concerned about it...

 

That's what I did, couple ac shops said it would not work with r12.
