93 engine into a 91.5

Is there anything I need to worry about? Will it have no brain to worry about or will I have to switch that over? External voltage regulators? Intercooler placement?

Well, I found a replacement truck near Chicago. 1991.5, no engine, tranny, transfer. It was a Wyoming truck, 2 rusts spots, frame he says immaculate. Grey with red pin striping.

Here is the ad. The one WITHOUT the flat bed is what I am getting.

WHOOOOHOOOO! A RUST FREE TRUCK!!

Now while the engine/tranny/transfer combo is out, somethings need to be done.

1. Engine
A) Oil Pan gasket
B) KPD Tab
C) Timing cover seals
D) Paint?

2. Tranny
A) New clutch
B) Seals
C) Paint?

3. Transfer Case
A) Seals
B) Oil change
C) Paint?

Also I am thinking of adding a PS intercooler, 4" Intercooler piping, 4" or 5" straight pipe exhaust. Yep, I am thinking of dropping the stacks.

1. Enginewhat miles are on the engine? Over 300k roll new rod and mains in and completely re-seal. Do the headgasket and stud it if you've got the $$$.
A) Oil Pan gasket
B) KPD Tab
C) Timing cover seals
D) Paint?

2. Tranny how many miles on the tranny? how was it shifting? pull the input shaft and inspect the bearing/race. re-seal and re-shim if everything looks good. If you don't like how it behaved before the tree, now is the time to address it. My clutch has 440k and still hold WOT in 5th (when truck is running )Southbend conFE or keep the stocker, period.
A) New clutch
B) Seals
C) Paint?

3. Transfer Case re-seal and speedie-sleeve the output shafts, $ providing, otherwise, throw it back in.
A) Seals
B) Oil change
C) Paint?

don't waste the $$ on 4'' IC piping. There are 600 RWHP trucks running 3'' stuff. The bigger the pipe, the more the lag, especially if you don't have the volume (read: big turbo(s) ) to fill it. Straight pipe is cheap and easy and makes you lower profile to the local law, but you will miss the sound of those stacks...ask me how I know

Sounds like you're gonna have a cool new rig, Jon---congrats!

The engine has 160,000+ on it. The VSS shot itself in the foot before I bought it. That is what is on it now after the fix.

The tranny shifted fine, shifted better after I added synthetic and ovefilled by .5 quart.

The reason for a new clutch is I have pulled 3 times with it but have only been able to smell it once. It still held the 3rd-4th-5th shifting, only once has it slipped when speed shifting in heavy traffic. That was a 3rd-4th shift but I didn't think I had the foot all the way off the pedal though.[rolleyes]

Thanks Greg! The thing about the stacks though is I want to go more low profile. People want to play more when they see "Diesel" and only a single exhaust

Ok, do you unbolt the bellhousing from the engine or tranny when pulling the engine?

Thanks!

unbolt the bellhousing from the motor, then take the inspection cover off the tranny and unbolt the TQ from the flywheel.
