5-sp 4X4 Trans mount upper brace?

Hi, I'm womdering how many of us are running the braces on the Tcase/trans? Does it help with the frame flex on an extended cab? I need to drill 6 bolts in my upper frame, that would be hard to do? If nobody runs them I'm ok, If needed, do I need to lift my body to get an angle drill in there. Thanks, Artie

I consider them more as required than optional. I cheated when I did mine. I had the cab off the frame and went from a 2WD gasser automatic setup to a 4WD diesel 5 speed crossmember. I replaced the three original upper mounting bolts on each side with two which I located between the original three. One was easy because it just required drilling through an open hole in the frame through the brace. The other one required some measuring. It looked like you could bolt the bottom center crossmember in place using the center holes and use a long drill to drill the upper two holes by using the upper braces as a guide. This was again on a five speed conversion.

Yeah, mine is a 2wd 5-sp to a 4wd. I thinking that I may use the bottom 3 per frame rail to drill my top frame flange, I think they line up. Thanks, Artie

The lower crossmember holes line up with the uppers. Just run down to Fastenall and pick a long 7/16's drill bit. Drill from the bottom side with a regular drill.
