4k governor spring?

can you only put a 3200 rpm governor spring in or can you go any bigger?
just a thought, I know that you can with the 2nd gens but was curious if the ve pumps can handle it.

There is a 4200 spring that is available, but results seem to vary quite a bit. VE's have trouble fueling higher RPM's than the 3200 spring will allow because the chamber the plunger rides in can only fill so fast.

Also, the 4200 spring has to be trimmed or bent to shorten it to the length of the stock/3200 RPM spring.

if you had a 14mm pump head a 4200 might be good, like he said though the stock VE wont fuel.

That is false information. I have been running this spring for 3.5 years now and the spring length does not have to be adjusted.

You can put it in a mild/stock truck and see a difference. Depending on fuel supply, air, and a few other things, some more modified trucks can better utilitize the spring than others.

Sorry, I'm just going by the info from here: http://1stgen.org/viewtopic.php?t=991

Did you have to adjust throttle indexing/idle when you went to the 4200?

Thanks for correcting me

No biggie...just dont want people thinking they have to modify the spring to run it. Yes, I did have to re index the throttle shaft to get my truck to run right after installing the spring. Actually, I had to adjust the shaft about three times before I was happy with the way it ran.

sweet, good to here that there is one, and how do you re index the throttle shaft? do you mean pulling off the throttle arm and moving it to a different spot? any big mods that I should buy before going to put the 4200 gov spring in?

also as logan said were can you get the 4200 rpm gov spring?
thanks

im going to put a holley blue on it to feed it instead of the stock LP. i am going to go with valve springs too since they are cheap insurance.

**update** just called piers and they say it isnt worth the 4000 spring cause it wont make any more power, what is your experence NeedMoPower??? i plan on slowly building this truck into a drag racer so the RPM's would be nice with the 3.07 gears.

I think they're right...I dont think it does make anymore power. I put the spring in my truck to be different. At that time all people knew about was the 3200 so I went to my local pump shop and they sourced out the 4200 spring for me.

I am currently running the 4200 spring in my truck and am about to go back to the 3200. I actually lost power with the 4200. It feels a lot better on the top end. but it is lacking misserably on the bottom. I dont know about other experiences with installing the 4200, but my truck would not even fire up untill we shortened the spring to the same length as the 3200. We had that spring in and out of the pump about 5 times before we shortened it enough to run.Like I said, these are just my experiences with the spring, but it is not worth the trouble if you ask me.

Stick to the 3200 (366) spring. Been there done that. BTW, it's good to hear that PDR is giving good advise about the 354 spring.
