47RH Wasted!

Well I believe it's time for a rebuild now. I am slipping in all forward gears and have no reverse. It seems odd but when I put it in reverse it still tries to drive forward. Why is this?

I am going to build my own tranny. Ready to order parts. Are there any hard parts that I should go ahead and plan on getting for it before I start rebuild? It's got some shavings on the dipstick . I am going to try and pull it one night next week and break it down.

Thanks for any help!

I would recommend you talk to one of the trans builders like Dave G, Suncoast, DTT, HTS, etc...... and see what they recommend.

Depending on what you trashed in there your looking at minimum a steel front planet assembly to replace the original aluminum one. Billet input shaft is almost a requirement and your power level. New front servo cover with a o-ring in it. New front drum to hold extra clutches. Maybe an overdrive sun gear depending on its condition. All new torrington thrust bearings in the overdrive section. Bushings if it needs it.

Its trying to go forward in reverse because either the rear band or the front clutch is not applied right.

Yeah, I thought that I should give somone a call monday but you know how those sales people can be. I ussuall like to know what I want/need before I call that way I don't get talked into somthing I do not need. I wasn't sure on what billet internal I should look into.

I am planning on running it in the classic bring what you built farm boy pulls around here and making it a dyno queen! I am shooting for 500 on #2 in the future but need to get the drivline in order before the engine goes any further. I just threw this in a month or so ago but it was fun while it lasted!

Now I have to spend more money. Who's the best place to call and get straight, non commisioned addvice?

Thanks again!
