3200 spring and 60lb springs
3200 spring and 60lb springs
i am going to put the 3200 spring in my truck soon i hope. would it be a good idea to do the #60 springs as well. I dont really plan on running that really high rmp all the time but every now and them i like to stop on it. i thought they were only needed for long peroids of high rmp but i am not sure. And if i do should i intake and exhaust springs? I still will not go any faster than 80 or 85 bc i just dont need too but sometimes i like to get there fast.
From what I've found the main reason for 60# is exhaust brakes in the Cummins ,I think what your talking about is maybe floating a valve and thats generaly for hot roded gassers going over about 8-10 grand or more .
If you plan on running 3500-3600rpm and up, then valve springs would be wise to have. You're not making much power above 3200 with that spring so I wouldn't worry about it til down the road.
I have the 3200 spring and my engine will turn 3500. I have stock springs.
I talk to ATS and I was worried about when you start making big boost numbers, but they said they have seen stock springs in vehicles turning 4000 and getting 80 PSI boost.
I was considering the bigger springs but was talked out of it
Good luck
