3" in/out muff needed

I've been searching the site and online and all I see is 4-5" mufflers for our truck. Did I screw up that bad by installing a 3" system?

I want a 3" in/out to reduce the sound of my striaght piped system that exits in front of the rear axle.

Does anyone know who sells one for around 100 bux?

aero turbine will probably have what you're looking for. their $50 more than you probably wanna spend. but here's a link to their 3" Aero Exhaust. you could maybe try heartthrob exhaust... Hearthrob Exhaust

I looked at the areo one and thought, what?? It's only 8"s long, that thing won't work! But after reading the specs, it's really 20"s long.

I should have just bought the 4" inch kit when I needed my exhaust replaced instead of trying to save money.

Now, the replaced/new downpipe (130), existing 3" pipe (200), and now the muffler (150)...I really did screw up. $480 which is the same is a complete 4" system or close!

No muffler should be pretty quiet on 3".

I know a dynomax bullet sounds pretty nice with 3" on a first gen

200 was the pipe, bending it, and labor from the turbo back. 300 to go over the rear axle, and in my small town only one shop could do it. sort of. The flange at the turbo failed, so I've ordered a new flange, and now I want to quite down the system.

So, this is how my charges added up.

I live in a small town. Mighty Muffler or whaterver shop owner came out to look my exhaust after it had rusted in two. At this point, I had the exhaust from the downpipe (DP still attached to turbo) back sitting in the bed of the truck to be re welded. The owner got mad and told me that it didn't just rust out...I had cut the catalytic coverted out and wanted him to weld it back together illegally!

So, even at 200, I had a hard time getting it done.

I think it's aluminuim, I had another shop order it for me. I think he gave the stick to me for free.

Crazy matt, it maybe...maybe i've been listening to it while it was disconnected for the turbo too long. It happened 200 miles into a 700 mile round trip. I was safety wiring and roping it back together at different exits along the way! It wasn't a fun trip.

Either I missed something (in the story) or that shop owner is smoking some serious crack ... dodge diesels didn't have cats until 04.5 ...there's no freaking way a diesel had a cat in 91 ... go kick that guy in the ***** for either trying to screw you over or for being an idiot, either way ... same punishment.

You might consider a donaldson 4" in / out from airflo.com and just use 3"-4" couplers to flare up to 4" and back to 3".. Or go all the way, step up to 4" at the muff and buy a 4" 90 degree elbow from airflo.com and bolt n go... cheap too

Um actually 94-98 12v had cats, then the 24 valves didn't, and then I don't know about the CR's

Our 94 didn't have a cat. the 95 did though.. both had stock exhaust.

They definely didn't have a cat in 91. that may have been a resonator or something.

So, what's my parts list going to be?

3"OD to 4"OD adapter
4" Donaldson Resonator
4"OD 90* bend

Is the Donaldson going to be 4" ID on both sides?

sounds like that's all you'd need. the muffler should be a 4" ID. being a slip on, don't forget exhaust clamps unless you plan to have it welded. you could have the adapters welded to the in and out of the muffler and just clamp the adapters to the rest of the 3".

That looks right! Get on the site and double check your ID's and OD's... But I think you have the right idea.
