2wd to 4wd
2wd to 4wd
I recently came across a '93 D350 and was wondering how complicated it would be to convert it to 4wd? Welding is not a problem at all (I'm a welder by trade) What all would need to be done to make this swap happen and are the frames even the same. Thanks
A friend of mine did it to a chevy and what he did was took a 4x4 frame cut it so it was flat and layed it up to his frame the transfered all nessisary holes. But I think that the one ton and 3/4 ton frames are different but I'm not posotive. Do a search on 2wd to 4wd conversion I think that I saw a post on it but I am unsure if it gave a how to.
Hope this helps Ryan

I don't know on the 3/4 and 1 tons (I haven't done mine yet) but we did convert a 1/2 ton SB 2wd Dodge frame to 4x4 with 3/4 ton suspension and differentials. This was done in about 2 hours total and no wleding was needed. We made a template of of a 4X 3/4 ton frame, cut the template out and marked the holes. Drilled them and bolted all the shackle perches on. This is very very easy to do. If you were a lbit closer I'd given you a hand, but any ?'s you have I'd be glad to offer what I know.

All of the holes should already be there. You will need a D60F of course and a transfer case. Also a set of 5 leaf front springs and the spring hangers. You may also need a front engine crossmember as well as the 4x4 trans crossmember. Some lift blocks in the rear and some new shocks, front upper shock mounts, some driveline mods and you are on your way. Takes about 1 1/2 to 2 days
