welcome aboard newbie
IF you were anywhere near Pottstown, Pa. I could point you in the right direction????????

I have a first gen i am fixing up and i thought about the second gen wheels and 17's also. i had heard that there are clearance problems in the front because of offset differences so check closely once you get them on and let us know.
If you plan on staying on the board- and you will- then fill out the personal stuff so we know where you are.

I purchased The 16x6.5 chrome wheels. They came off of a 94 2500. The 17x8 Wheels have to great of an offset to use.

gotya- yeah i forgot the 17's are 3rd gen. Just so hapens i am headed to my old stomping grounds in Pottstown today and i have to go see him anyway about some lug nuts for some old American Racing 8 lugs i want to put on mine for starters. so I'll write it down and ask him.
It also looks to me like the 235-85's are the biggest(tallest) tire tha can be run on the front of a D250 . I have some good 265-75 here but they are the same hidth but much wider and look like they will hit when turned? , crossy

Hi, depending on the offset on your american racing wheels will determine if they are going to rub or not. If they are close to the stock wheels I would put the 265/75 on. They should be ok.

I talked to Chris about your desire to change wheels and he said it is a straight forward deal with the lug nuts and that you just need to use the tall, standard 'truck' 1/2 lug nuts with a conical seat. well the lugs are straight forward but he said you are going to have to open up the center bore a bit to fit over the earlier hub..

How will the center caps fit on though? I have seen pictures with these wheels and center caps on 1st gen trucks.

I found the nuts at autozone, 1/2" x20 with shoulder to retain caps. They were $2.00 each.

Hi, Thanks, Can you tell me the phone number to the place or the part number of the lug nut? I went to a autozone near me and they did not have much. I have not found anything on the internet either on those lug nuts. Thanks

I just used acorn nuts on my 2nd gen wheels. Center caps on 1st gens are girley IMO.

Hey Falcon, that is an awesome looking truck! Are those stock 2nd gen wheels? If so, what size are they and what years did they come stock on? Those are the exact wheels I want!

No they are after market I got them off a 98 they are 16x8 not much clearance between the wheel and the brake callapers, they had 315's BFG on them but they hit the very outer edge of the fender when I turned. So I put my 265 toyo's on them, they are almost new.

falcon1 , While I agree that THAT is a good looking truck ,but also see where signkrazy is coming from. Second gen wheeels would never look that good without the center caps.crossy
