You should already have some 6" blocks from the factory. Add a leafs will make the empty ride harsher. Better to save a little longer and get some "comfort ride" proportional springs with a 2 1/2" lift.

mhuppertz: the EARLY early trucks only have 3'' lift blocks from the factory for some reason. Dodge made the switch around when the grille/front clip changed in '91.

ihpower: I suffer from the same sag. I plan to flip my rear shackles to create the lift. I've got a thread going on it somewhere in the 1st gen section...just haven't got off my butt to gather all the parts Stay tuned and you'll see if it worked for me. Or, go to www.ramchargercentral.com and look up shackle flip under the 'how to' section for a good set of instructions. You may have to become a member to access...not too sure on that. Add-a-leafs would be nice, but I only have about an inch of thread left on my u-bolts and I don't like to see any less than that, personally. Yeah, I'm too cheap to buy new u-bolts

I like the 2" softride springs in the front I took add-a-leafs out of mine that the PO had installed. Sure made a huge difference in the ride. Still looking for something to do to the rear. I like the shakle flip idea may have to do that this winter. Cheaper than new springs or airbags.

The 2 inch add a leaf will make the rear very harsh. I have some laying around if your interested in trying them.

I have an add a leaf on the back of mine and it definitely raised the back. Not too much for pulling a gooseneck though, but after the bigger tires the long snanked ball was a little high. Now my horse has to stand uphill. I'm trying to cure it by getting a short shanked ball. I may have to cut some of the trailer hitch off. Anyway it worked out alright and I think maybe the ride is stiffer, but it wasn't good to begin with. If I had it to do over again and I new that Softride springs would stand up to pulling, then I would get them. If there was any question though. I would still use aals.

I wouldn't do AALs up front the ride would be terrible and they wouldn't last very long with all that weight on them all the time. I have the 2" skyjacker springs up front and they are nice ride is great and the front of the truck is almost higher than the rear. AALs for the rear would be fine its stiff to begin with.

FWIW, I have a '91.5 with the new grill, aftercooler and only 3" blocks in the rear. I am pretty sure that they made the switch in '92 when they went to a deeper frame section and larger spring eyes . . .

I'm actually interested in these Skyjacker springs as well... I wouldn't mind a lift and a smoother ride

I got mine from 4 Wheel parts wholesalers I don't think they list them on their site but you can call them. Summit and about any other 4x4 parts suplier should be able to get them. Just make sure you get the ones for the diesel as they are heavier to help support the weight. Price was really reasonable as I remember not that much more than the add-a-leafs. Easy to install, better ride and great looks.

I had my front end saggers re-arched and a leaf added 5 years ago. It brought the front end up level and is still that way today. I've never felt a cushy first gen. so I have nothing to compare it to. And it really doesn't matter much to me.
