Feveree40, that truck of yours was my kick in the but to either by a 1st gen diesel or build one at any cost. Well, a poor high school kid cant really buy one so i bought 3 and built one ahhaha.
Wow, glad i could be part of the journey, haha! I actually bought mine as a poor high school. I'm actually making some money now, but I still find it rewarding to make good use of of other people's junk by putting it on my truck, haha.

SOmeday, If I ever get my crew on the road, I will probably put a sending unit in my rear diff. I have been thinking about wiring up a tranny temp guage, then putting the diff temp on a momentary switch and use the same guage. Maybe save some money and precious dash space. I could continually monitor my tranny temp, yet check the diff temp any time I was curious.

I really like John Deere Buff Primer personally. It is cheap if you buy it by the quart or gallon and use a gun. You buy their thinner for it too, which is cheap. The thing about it is it fills holes will, and dries fast. It goes on great.

Does it hold up to moisture well? Like snow and rain

I don't think any primer is designed to hold up against moisture, the main purpose is to provide a base for the paint to stick to. I used to work with a body man that would get upset if we moved parts outside the shop that were in primer, he said they would absorb moisture from the air. I am no paint specialist by any means, although this guy did some of the best work I have ever seen so maybe there is some fact behind what he thought.

As far as the JD primer, I used that stuff on fertilizer carts and spreader trucks I used to work on with great success.

Poor truck. Being violated like that. At least you put the right color over it.
