1983 Upgrade

Gents, first time posting, newb to engine swap also.

Have a 1983 D350 western canadian truck with the 360 in it. Had it for a few years and have enough parts gathered up, that I started a swap over to a 12V cummins yesterday. Here is what I am putting in it. 89 12V Non IC with 47RH tranny. Relatively speaking, it went right in, great start! But I have questions and want to make sure I am looking for some of the remaining items correctly.

Transmission mount and cross member. With the 47RH, do I use the mount that came with the tranny or can I use the mount from the 727 and still hit the existing cross member? Do you guys modify the cross member or use the original? Just looking for advise on this.
Looks like the starter needs to be from the 2nd gen so it matches the mounts of the adaptor plate for the 47RH? The starter off the 727 only lines up with 2 of the mounting holes and it looks like research tells me to use the newer starter.
Has anyone upgraded/added Intercooled to this first gen engine? Is it as simple as adding the cooler and running the hoses?

Thanks for any help and advice you all can offer, Picture of removal of old and new one installed.

Getting the old 360 yanked.

12 Valve in and waiting until next weekend for further work.

The factory 91.5-93 intercooler requires the 91.5-93 diesel rad support, grille, and radiator. Many folks go with a 2ndgen, or powerstroke IC because they're easier to fit in the earlier years.

I can't speak for the 727 or 47RH, but going from the A999 to a Getrag 5spd, the crossmember was wrong. I used the 5spd one from the donor truck. Had to drill a new set of holes in the frame rails because of the different length.

And yes, your 2ndgen trans and flywheel housing require the 2ndgen starter.

Thanks u2slow, that give me something to look for. I am pretty sure i have the rad supports for the 2nd gen, so I may just need to find an IC and keep on moving!

Glenn, welcome to the forum. That will be a nice truck when you are done. I believe U2slow said that you have to use the rad support out of a first gen intercooled truck with a 2nd gen intercooler

nonrev is correct. You will need to use a 1st gen core support for your project.
I personally like using the 91.0 core support with a '94-'97 12V 2nd gen intercooler, but it can be done a few different ways..

Check out the Sticky for a detailed write up on doing that swap.
Or I have some pictures and details on doing that swap on my "Saving a 91.0 W-250" thread.
