1300???

Coming off the acceleration ramp last night I hit 1300 degress. Didn't know the old girl had it in her, but it sure was fun. I was running light, no trailer. Just me and my son showing off on 95. I held the gear until the gov. pulled back went to OD and when I looked at the pyrometer it was in the red. Sure sounds nice but now where do I spend my next pay check?

Did That..........3/16 from the mark. I will push it some more and see if it sounds like thrashing machine.
When will I know I have gone to far? I have never heard a diesel ping.
I am still running that 21cm houseing that no one likes.

exhaust housing, definitely. ANYTHING is better than the 21. HTT stage II or III compressor with a 16cm exhaust housing seems to be a good all around combo. You'll be out about 400 beans.

Diesel 'ping' is something that you'll hear at idle. Crank the pump towards the head, idle gets louder. After running way cranked for awhile, I've steadily pulled mine back. I'd rather cool things off with water injection and turbo upgrades and let my head gasket live past 400k. You can hear when you've gone too far...it just sounds wrong....

I cranked the timing a little more today and I like the results. I'm about 1/4 inch past where it started. Now if the start point is right or wrong I have no idea. It just runs better. I am looking for a used 16cm exhaust if anyone wants too sell. I had a couple of offers but lost the thread. I'll see if I can stuff an ad in the classified.
I am also contemplating removing the compressor housing and smoothing up in inlet throat. It is a rough casting and has sharp shoulders. it can't flow well looking like a piece of 36 grit sand paper. Does the impeller allow for the housing removal?

Yep, just take the compressor outlet clamp off, then loosen the clamp holding the compressor housing on until you can slide the housing off. It may be helpful to rotate the housing so the skinniest side is near the head to take it off.

Edit: There is a gasket between the compressor outlet and the metal elbow that leads to the intercooler piping, and theres one between the compressor housing and backing plate too.
