'02 for a 1st gen
Ok, so ive been thinkin bout sellin my 2002 and finding a good 1st gen. Do you guys think id be crazy??
Just wondering your opinions on it, one thing is id like to get is some toys (fourwheeler, snowmobile, and such) but i cant afford to keep the truck i have now and get toys SO i get to thinkin. Oh and another reason to sell is to get the one cop around here off my A$$ (if i dont modify to HIS specs in five days, he yanks my registration)
SO i want to get a new look, and a un lifted truck (for now
id lift a 1st gen 2") just wondering yalls opinions thanks in advance

I personaly think "YOUR OUT YOUR PEEPICKIN MIND "
Not really, I think you got a realistic plan. I've been there on the police harrassment and once they get your # it's time to make a change for your own benifit. Besides if you step back on the earler tuck issue you'll probably have more BOMBING funds. Actually driving the older ones is kinda fun if you make a sleeper out of it. I get to turn a few heads when my old sleeper kicks a new trucks butt
it's almost comical if ya know what I mean.
As you can tell by my signature I like my toys also. Any way good luck to ya.

I'd keep the 02 and be a little more compliant with the law. You have looks, comfort, power and depreciation. (your truck) They don't make many add ons for a first gen like they do for the 2nd gens.
the thing is, I do comply with the law, But if i was to do what he wants me too, my truck would be UGLY
He wants me to put on like some sort of lawn edge trimming (black plastic strip) around where my fender flares are to extend those out to cover the 1/2 in of tire that isnt covered by the flare, then he wants me to put on semi truck flaps "cause i have big tires"
I have filed a complaint for harassment, but his sergent aint anybetter than he is
So thats the thoughts i have came up with, is sell the truck and start over

how about a donation to there dept like atheltic fund or something. if you had any kind of buisness in town that would help small donations may go along way if not time for an attorney out of town one that doesnt know them would work also.
There's another listing on here for someone who wants to swap a 2nd gen for a 1st, and someone even to throw in his kidney belt if you took his 1st!
I don't think you're nuts for offering the swap, but you shouldn't give in to those cops. Besides, they'll probably give you as much hell with a 1st gen as a 2nd; because as RAMGUY said, they have your # anyway.
Ask them to show you the regulations where it says you have to cover the 1/2" of tire sticking out. Bet they can't.

Just took mine in for safety inspection today.
They didn't say anything about the tires sticking out 1/2" past the flares. (at least)
They did say I need to get mud flaps, and the inspection guy wouldn't stand behind the inspection if I ever got pulled over for the lack of flaps, but he passed me anyway.
He said he'd swear they were there when he passed me and I must have taken them off after the inspection.
I do have tell tale holes from my previous flaps back when I had little itty bitty tires.
I chose this particular Dealer because they are very "lift friendly", even sponsor some local 4x4 clubs.
I would think that all of Utah has the same reg's regarding lifts, but perhaps it is a county thing?
I have yet to get pulled over in my current truck.
Noisy, no muffler, lifted, big tires, no mud flaps.
Again, I say keep the current truck, just get whatever is going on between you and the cop figured out.
Oh, I have to go back to my purchasing Dealer next week to get my emissions tested, as this Dealer doesn't do Diesel emissions, nor do any of the corner "inspection/emissions" shops every 2 blocks.

This is just my .02 is there a law that states that lifted trucks need mudflaps on the rear. Fronts shouldn`t mater you only get your truck dirty. In Az any lifted 4x4 needs flaps period my truck is a 1ton 4x4 duely and I have no lift and the state says I have to have flaps on the rear just cause its a 4x4 duely the judge said so but droped my ticket. Your state may have a simular law so before you trade in haist check it out and dont ask other cops there dumb like the rest of us look it up at MVD
