01 Dana 70 in my 93?

Just posted a thread displaying my destroyed spider gears in my 70... found a good deal on a 70 out of a 24v, just curious if anyone has any experience swapping these two axles. The new one is disk brake. Thanks

Think that would be a Dana 80. Use the search function. It's been done.

The SRW axles from a 2nd gen are notably wider than the OEM SRW axle in a Gen1 truck.
The wheels will ride right at the edge of the wheel lip, so a 2nd or 3rd gen wheel will work to get it to look better.
Down side is you have to run spacers on the front use the same wheels as the rears.
The springs on a 2nd gen are wider than a Gen1, as are the spring pads, so you may want to run shims between the spring and the u-bolt.
You'll need the lower axle plates from the 2nd gen and you'll need to create a way to mount the shock.

FYI, if the axle you procured is from a SRW diesel with an automatic, it's a Dana 70.

Mark.
