Yet another 47RE problem

I have been fighting with the fluid level in my 47RE. The fluid is foaming when at the full mark on the stick. I tried dropping the level slowly and to stop the foaming the level is low enough that the tranny starts slipping.

This morning I stopped for a few minutes and left the truck running in neutral. After starting back up it would not shift out of 2nd. I pulled over and shifted into and out of park without shutting the truck down and it ran fine afterwards.

Any connection? Ideas?

Look for either a perforated transmission cooler return line, a cracked converter, or a loose filter or valve body in the pan. It is most likely the filter or the valve body will be loose. When you get the problem fixed, visit your nearest Cenex dealer (farm supply store) and pick up their synthetic universal hydraulic transmission fluid and use it instead of ATF. It is not only much less expensive than ATF, you will also be amazed at how much better the transmission will perform, and the increase in fuel mileage from less slippage in the converter.

What is the specific CENEX product you are recommending?...I looked on their site and couldn't find a Synthetic Universal Hyd fluid. There was a blended tractor hydraulic fluid called Maxtron...is that it?
