From the research ive done on the 12v fuel system, it looks like around 25-30 at idle and maybe 40-50 WOT. No prob. till you go to buy a gauge! Auto meter, and all the companies that ive checked out only make a 15 and a 100 psi mechanical gauge. I dont get it, i want a 2 5/16 0-60psi gauge and no one makes it. Im wondering what the guys racing or the puller use to monitor thier fuel press. I suppose youd Have to go to the 0-100 but it sucks to use a guage that youre mostly using the first 1/3 of. Any one know of someone that makes this gauge?

 

Well I'll probably get jumped on for it about some unseen danger by it, but I use a oil pressure guage for my fuel. It's about a third of the price and our fuel is an oil to begin with anyway. You can pick one of the pretty cheap got mine for around 40 on ebay with shipping. Of course they go up to 100 psi since most oil pressures are around 90.

IMO it is alot safer than running a mechanical guage to your cab. Just look at my sig it shows what kind I use. That is just my opinion and what I run.

 

Nothing to get jumped on from me, i see nothing wrong with it if it works. The prob. is it still puts me i the 100psi range that i dont want to do. But good thought- any psi gauge that reads from 0-60 should work, the only thing i could think of would be another boost gauge???? It would be better if you could get to the dial and tape over or blank out the application {boost}- anyone else?

 

I used a 0-60psi water pressure gauge which I got from www.surpluscenter.com.$10 + shipping and it matches my Banks gauges.Mine is an AMI Autometer.

 

AMI Auto meter, huh ill look for it. So it is a reg. auto gauge, not a water press. gauge intended for like industrial use. This was my next step was to look at like grainger or the such for any 0-60 psi gauge. Do you happen to have a part number that would help a ton, thanks..

 

My gauge is an industrial water pressure gauge.It matches my Banks EGT and boost gauges perfectly so what difference would it make?You should read Infidels write up on how to install a fuel pressure gauge in a 12 valve.It's at the beginning of the 12 valve forum.A lot of that info could apply to any year Cummins.

 

I don't have a parts number.If you go to the surplus center's web site and search for a 0-60 psi gauge[water,oil, or air press-makes no difference]and they don't have one ,call or e-mail and let them know what you want and they will get it for you.

 

Ah I see the pressure band you were wanting didn't realize that, well leprechaun has a good idea with the water psi guage. Should be able to find them about anywhere check ebay (of course I am addictaded to that place).

 

I run an isspro gauge on mine. I know that westach used to have a 0-40psi fuel pressure gauge which you might be able to peg from time to time but should be good.

 

60 psi is best since it points about straight up at normal pressure.
I use one that says fuel on it from here http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.as...s&keyword=NFGA but it can say water, air or oil and work just fine.

 

I use a 0-100 mechanical gauge. When I was looking for my gauge, I too preferred a 0-60 psi one, but the 100 psi one I have now works great. I would just get that and not worry about it.

Isspro makes a 0-60 mechanical one...........model number R5607 or R5607R........for $40 to $50. Lethaldiesel and thoroughbreddiesel sell them.......I ordered one today.

Great advise on the surpluscenter.com. Ordered a 21-1572-TT and only 11.95! It will not mount like my other gauges but what the heck its a race truck. It has a 1/4 pipe fitting on the bottom side and is liquid filled. Hey being that it is L.Filled do you think its still ness. to use the neddle valve mentined before?? Thanks guys

 

stock600, yes it is still necessary to use the needle valve.

For mounting I used an exhaust reducer 2" to 1-1/2" and welded a strap across the top for mounting under the dash. A quick coat of the appropriate paint and you have a gauge mount. Add a little clear silicone around the gauge when you install it and it will hold forever as well as look good.
