Whats up with the hieght proportioning valve

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1998/05-04-98.htm

I dont get it. my ford didnt have anything like this and with the Dana 80 rear and large wheel cylinders and the disks front it functioned just fine for my application whats the differentce between the Ford and my 2500 dodge.

They say 75% of GVW is that just for the truck? in that case stock my truck is 7050 of an 8800 lbs gvw that means im 80% of GVW already What gives here. i dont forsee any adverse problems if i remove it.

Just about every light truck with an over 7200 GVW, sold since 1984, that does not also have full anti-lock brakes, also has a load compensating brake proportioning valve installed on the rear axle for safety purposes. The idea is to increase the brake loading and line pressure on the rear wheels in proportion to the load, as determined by the height of the truck relative to the rear axle (amount of suspension compression is the determining factor). It keeps light trucks from locking the rears and then turning a 360 when you hit the brakes.

I would suspect your Ford was really old, or had full anti-lock brakes, or was a light duty F150.
