What lube do I use?

I have a 98 12 valve with a 5 spd stick. What lube do I put in the stick box and how much. I find it sometimes difficult to change gears - won't mesh.

The only long term proven lubes to use are Castrol Syntorq LT(not Syntech) or Amsoil MTG.
5 quarts.
Any other lubes are well proven to eat your syncros.
Sounds like that may be what's already happened because someone used the wrong lube.

Castrol Syntorq is pricey unless you call these guys> http://www.blumenthalmfg.com/ (888) 236-4800
$52 for one gallon and a quart
or you can pay $22/quart at the dealer for Mopar Synthetic Manual Transmission Lubricant, Mopar P/N 4974459
No auto parts stores sell Syntorq but they will sell you something they say will work that doesn't.

Castrol Syntorque LT.

Don't play around either, your Synchros will pay the price.

Now I know not to believe anything you say here.
There is plenty of evidence to back up the reality that only two lubes work in the NV

Some stuff from Wal-Mart?

What, cold cream?

Specify some stuff. I have seen GM Synchromesh in the local Wallyworld, perhaps it would suffice as it is also synthetic.

But it ain't cheap either, and if you are going to buy it, might as well get the right stuff.

My synchros didn't last 5000 miles after I put regular gear oil it. The liquid gold is the only way to go.

Speaking from experience here.

As I recall, those synchronizers are not brass--they are carbon fiber or something like carbon fiber, and they are very sensitive to the lube used.
