What causes this? **PCM**

my tranny takes a really long time to shift into OD and you pretty much have to be maxed out in D before it will shift. I tried turning on and off my TC lockup switch and it doesn't help. any quick fixes before I go on a little road trip?

Sounds like the TV cable. Does the TC lock up? If it does, think about the front clutches.

Your tps is out of adjustment, instructions here> http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmissio...TPS_adjust.htm

or your trans temp sender is bad or has a bad connection. You can unplug the connector, driver's front of the tranny and jump across the wires with a 1000 ohm resistor and see if that fixes it.

Mines the opposite, it doesnt stay in 3rd long enough, I have to rev it way up in 2nd before it will shift to 3rd, then once its there, it shifts right into OD. Chrysler mechanic said there is some kind of adjustment, I will have to see.

1-2-3 shifts are controlled by the TV cable, overdrive and lockup are controlled by TPS and ECM.
I think Bill hit it on the head with the tranny temp sensor.

Can anybody give me the link to the thread that talks about and gives instructions on taking apart the TPS and fixing it. It was quite informative with some good pictures.
My TPS is starting to act up and I want to fix it.

Thanks.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...&highlight=tps This and either rewire the tps to the pcm or take the wires out of the harness and shield them in thier own harness cover. Then readjust the tps via a volt meter , Goodluck,,Rick

Thanks kandgo. I drilled a hole in the TPS as per pappyman's thread and shot some contact cleaner in it and plugged it with silicone when I was done. I punched out the steel sleeves and slotted the mounting holes to make the TPS adjustable.

I tested TPS voltage before I started mucking with it and was only getting .20 volts at idle - way off the .80 - 1.20 volts it is supposed to be. Anyway, I was able to get it to .80 and after it was cleaned and adjusted it worked perfectly!

Thanks for the help - saved me a bundle AGAIN!

Geat glad to hear it worked, next time take it all the way apart and really clean her up and do the dielelectric grease on it and it should last a lot longer. Oh yea, I had to take the wires out of the factory harness on my 94 and put them in thier own harness, I also wired a torque lockup switch to use just incase it started it again when I was away from home a distance. I tried to take the TPS apart but it wouldn't budge. I was concerned that I was going to break it so I stopped and drilled the hole. Any hints on taking it apart without damaging it? I would have liked to apply some dielectric grease as you said.

Thanks, again.

On the side opposite the shaft you'll see a odd shaped line where it was put together. I just traced the line a couple times with a razor knife then popped it out with a small screw driver. I used super-glue to put it back together then rubbed silicone over the cut to seal it back up.

Thanks, Infidel - I knew I was missing something - I will try to take it apart again. I'm a little reluctant, though - it works perfectly as is.

OK so I checked my TPS and its putting out 5 volts on both the colored wires no matter what the throttle position is. is it broke? Do you think the capacitor thing will fix it or should I take it apart and spray it with electronic cleaner stuff? or do I just need a new one? Will this fix these problems:

NO OD.
TC unlocks sporadically, or doesn't lock at all unless switch is on.
will not shift out of first gear unless you let off the accell petal.
